Is it better to keep older appliances/cars longer to cut down on waste or to buy new energy efficient ones?
I have a 2003 Honda Civic that is fuel efficient and runs well. However, newer cars get even better gas mileage. We also have older appliances in our home that still work reasonably well, but would it be better to purchase new energy efficient models? If you could provide websites that support your answer, that would be great.

How can I install an outlet to use European appliances?
My house inspector noted in his report that the meter reads 240V. Is there a way of installing an outlet that would allow me to use European appliances and tools (possibly high wattage) without a converter?

How much money do you save by unplugging unused appliances? Does electricity really flow through unused items?
I just don’t understand how or why electricity flows through unused chargers and plugs to unused appliances. Does anyone have any information on this? Also, how much electricity flows through?

What website shows the values of resistance, voltage, and current in certain appliances?
I need to find all 3 of those for 5 different appliances and prove the equation I = V/R. Any websites that list these specs on appliances, couldn’t find this on sites like Best Buy.

What is this black smudgy film on my white appliances?
I have a new refrigerator, dishwasher, bottle sterilizer and a dirty diaper can… they all are getting this black film on them and they are all white. It comes off with a wet paper towel but Im worried as to why this keeps coming back. Could this be something in the air in my house or is this common with white appliances? I read it could be from candles or carbon. Does anyone have experience with this?

Is it possible to run electrical appliances from the telephone socket?
I’ve been puzzling over this and hope someone who’s knowlegable about telephone lines can shed some light. I would appreciate serious answers please. Please do not hesitate to be technical if you have to, thanks! Is it true that the telephone sockets in our house can actually supply enough electrical power to run appliances? If so, what is the typical load it can supply? Is there an chance that I can overload the telephone socket? What would be the consequence of overloading the telephone socket? Would it affect the whole neighbourhood’s telephone network? If using electrical apliances from a telephone socket were possible, then I have another question. So the electrical power from a telephone socket is not metered is it? If that were true, wouldn’t I be able to run appliances using the telephone socket as a power source without paying for electrical bills? Would the telephone network company be able to register an unusually higher load on the telephone sockets from my house? Please take my question seriously. The reason I’m asking is because I have come across electrical appliances being sold on the internet that is meant to be run from a telephone line. For example I came across a LED table lamp that runs from the electrical current of a telephone socket. If you don’t believe me, just search google. Manufacturers really make such appliances that run from telephone sockets
