Is it possible to run electrical appliances from the telephone socket?
I’ve been puzzling over this and hope someone who’s knowlegable about telephone lines can shed some light. I would appreciate serious answers please. Please do not hesitate to be technical if you have to, thanks! Is it true that the telephone sockets in our house can actually supply enough electrical power to run appliances? If so, what is the typical load it can supply? Is there an chance that I can overload the telephone socket? What would be the consequence of overloading the telephone socket? Would it affect the whole neighbourhood’s telephone network? If using electrical apliances from a telephone socket were possible, then I have another question. So the electrical power from a telephone socket is not metered is it? If that were true, wouldn’t I be able to run appliances using the telephone socket as a power source without paying for electrical bills? Would the telephone network company be able to register an unusually higher load on the telephone sockets from my house? Please take my question seriously. The reason I’m asking is because I have come across electrical appliances being sold on the internet that is meant to be run from a telephone line. For example I came across a LED table lamp that runs from the electrical current of a telephone socket. If you don’t believe me, just search google. Manufacturers really make such appliances that run from telephone sockets

I live in the New Haven area of Connecticut and our electric bills have absolutely skyrocketed in the past year. What are some good ways to conserve electricity on a daily basis? Which household electronics and appliances use the most electricity? Which will cost more on the electric bill- Using space heaters or leaving the heat on?

How important is it that brand names of appliances match in a kitchen if they are the same color?
I have to buy a new frige and stove for my new house. There is already a stainless steel dishwasher in there. So I am getting a stainless frige and stove. The appliances will all be lined up along the same wall. Should I try to get the frige and stove of the same brand or is it only the color that matters?

When remodeling a kitchen, should you tile under the cabinets and appliances?
I am tearing out all of the cabinets and removing all of the appliances from the room regardless. I have seen people set the cabinets on the subfloor and tile up to them as well as tile underneath before setting the cabinets. Same with appliances. Which is the proper way, assuming the room is completely cleared out to start with. I do understand the added cost of tiling the entire floor under cabinets and appliances, however I am asking for the correct way, not necessiarly the most cost effective way. Thanks.

What color appliances should I buy?
I just painted my cabinets a cream/bisque color. I am adding stainless hardware. I am putting in a teak wood floor and granite counters that are black with cream/rust. I am deciding between stainless or cream. I am afraid the cream will be too much but I have a small kitchen and not sure how the stainless will look with 3 appliances in a small L-shaped kitchen…maybe too much ‘bling’? Thanks for any suggestions.
